One Thing That I Know I AM In Control Of: MY ATTITUDE!
This last two years have been a sure test of my attitude, patience, and endurance. I have had many wonderful Ups and several Downs. I have taken on all with the idea that I AM IN CONTROL OF MY ATTITUDE! I started my own business, I’ve faced several rare health issues, and my family has lost special people.
In November of 2010 I was a passenger in a motor vehicle accident which changed my life due to a major shoulder injury. I have undergone one surgery to repair the tear and am continuing trying to get my strength back and for the pain to fade. December 2011 was the beginning of a huge scary battle with a rare cancer (Carcinoid Cancer). Though it is rare and I had undergone surgery and multiple tests, I am thought to be cancer-free! I still have to be seen every six months to have testing in order to make sure that it is gone! I am happy to say that the multiple surgeries that I had undergone had me take a better look at my health. A great friend of mine asked me to join her workout and in conversation she mentioned drinking Shakeology. After learning about what Shakeology could do for me and finding out the benefits on my own, I began my own business as an Independent Beachbody Coach. This was such a positive movement for me and my family and helped me through all of my medical struggles! I was laid up during recovery times after surgery, but I had the tools and support that I needed to endure. I CHOSE my attitude and it was to PUSH FORWARD AND THROUGH my Downs.
December 2011 I was admitted to the hospital for what they thought was “Carcinoid Crisis” (a serious medical situation that can happen to those who have Carcinoid Cancer). After my 5 day stay on the Cardiac floor and seeing multiple doctors, I was told that I have bradycardia (slow heart rate), adrenal gland insufficiency, and possibly more. My attitude did NOT fail me as I looked forward to each step that I needed to take! I was referred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to see an Internal Medicine doctor in order to direct my multi-dimensional medical issues. January 2012 I was at Mayo Clinic for the second time with in a year’s time, feeling scared by the unknown, yet happy to find answers!
During my two-week stay in 2012 I saw many specialists. I went in to the process hoping to complete a puzzle that was started, so to speak. After the two-week stay and multiple consultations and testing, I learned that the puzzle that I had in my head was much different from what was in front of me. I was discouraged and frustrated, but turned that into DETERMINATION! Again, another example how the control of my attitude helped me!
What I found out at Mayo Clinic was that I have a posterior pituitary apoplexy with a hemorrhage and fluid surrounding it, heart arrhythmias that are irregular, secondary-adrenal gland insufficiency, and blood work that is all of the charts; just naming a few things. So, what NOW??? More tests, more procedures, and a self-evaluation to keep my attitude positive to endure and get to the finish line.
Today all of these medical issues are still not fully answered and very complex. I find myself fortunate to have such great supporters including: family, friends, and my Team Beachbody Family!
As a Fitness Consultant and a Certified Group Fitness Instructor and owning my own business, I must keep my GOALS AND DREAMS in sight! Without the support, motivation, and inspiration that I received from my supporters, my attitude could be suffering! It is my passion to HELP ANYONE AND EVERYONE meet their GOALS AND DREAMS!
My attitude is tested each and everyday, but I remember that I AM IN CONTROL of it! I often hand-write things ”I can control” and things “I cannot control” in order to keep moving forward! I have found success when meeting what some see as “failure” and keeping moving forward instead of changing direction (backwards). Another thing that I do daily and weekly is set goals for myself and write them down! I find by doing this it helps make them REAL. I write them down as if I have already accomplished them, showing my attitude is to DO IT or MAKE IT HAPPEN!
If you need help in meeting your goals or advice in how to cope, journal, and gain control of your attitude; please reach out to me! I am a girl from a small town with a big heart and HUGE DREAMS! I miss the ones that I loved dearly that have passed away, however I feel their presence everyday by the memories made!
